| Breaking News |  | Saturday, May 15th, 2010: Providence Befuddled by Vázquez
Santiago Vázquez of the Phoenix Monsoon gave the Grays a steady diet of fine pitches and he walked off the mound with a complete-game shutout. He blanked them 6-0 on 6 hits with a total of 2 strikeouts and no walks.
The Phoenix manager said, "Vázquez was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
This season to date Vázquez has a record of 3 wins and 2 losses with a 4.39 ERA, has appeared in 8 games and struck out 32 in 55.1 innings. |
 | Saturday, May 15th, 2010: Star C Jameson Signs for 5 years
Providence fans celebrated as word of a signing became reality. Paul Jameson won't be pulling up stakes anytime soon, as he has signed a 5-year extension at a pay rate of $7,390,000 per annum.
Since he is widely seen as an integral part of the club, Providence officials had to keep Jameson from jumping ship.
Looking at his season stats, Jameson has compiled a .265 batting average and a .355 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 20 runs. |

Opting to stay with what he knows, Travis MacLeverty signed an extension with the Grays earlier today that will keep the 25-year-old in a Providence uniform for at least 3 years longer.
MacLeverty is poised to earn $7,450,000 per year and is loved by diehards for his loyalty to the organization.
This season MacLeverty is batting .298 with 30 RBIs, 25 runs scored and 11 home runs. |
