25-year-old Brady Adams made a few Chicago headlines during this past week as the rookie left fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Freshmaker League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 13 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .542 average. Adams collected 1 home run, 5 RBIs and scored 7 runs.
To date, Adams has collected 44 hits for a .352 average. He has posted 2 home runs, scored 23 runs and driven in 14 runs. |

Chicago's Pat Blackshear would not be denied the Freshmaker League Player of the Week Award for this past week. His consistent stroke, which produced 12 hits in 31 at-bats and a .387 average, made him the clear favorite to win the honor.
"You just go out there and do what you have to do," said Blackshear, "When I'm up, I try to focus and block everything else out of my mind... and have a good at-bat. I'm up there to get a hit or advance a runner, not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment. I hope I can win this award every week."
He also tallied 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and scored 6 runs.
This year Blackshear has 7 home runs and a .286 batting average.
