| Breaking News |  | Saturday, May 15th, 2010: Scholars Childs Injured
The Cambridge Scholars got some bad news when the team learned that Joe Childs was likely to be out for 2 weeks after he injured himself being hit by a pitch in today's game against the St. Louis Pioneers. A round of tests by the team doctors revealed the injury to be a dislocated finger. Upon learning of their diagnosis, the Cambridge manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries -- they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Joe is back in action."
Childs is currently hitting at a .270 pace with 6 home runs and 21 RBIs. |

A veritable toddler to the Freshmaker League, Carlos Torres just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for April.
Over the past month the 23-year-old shortstop for Cambridge hit .340 with 36 hits, 2 home runs and 14 RBI. He also logged 2 walks and compiled a .349 on-base percentage.

Free agent-to-be António Hernández has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Freshmaker League Batter of the Month.
In April, the 33-year-old Cambridge right fielder hit .364 with 8 home runs and 32 RBIs.
If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.
